How skincare changes with the seasons: Spring

How skincare changes with the seasons: Spring

The changing of seasons usually comes a revamp of our skincare regime. Just like we’d switch up our wardrobe with the weather, our skin will often need different support depending on the time of year.

Have you ever found what you’ve thought to be your holy grail moisturiser, only to find it stops doing its job as well once the season turns? With variations in the weather, particularly temperature, humidity and wind, our skin’s requirements will adjust accordingly.

Depending on our skin type (e.g. oily, dry, combination or normal), some of us may feel these changes a little more so than others, however everyone’s routine will usually need a little tweaking to help optimally protect against the elements, and in turn keep our skin looking and feeling its very best. Here’s a few things to know about the changes we see in Spring.

Spring

In spring time, the chills of winter are replaced with a rising temperature (hurray!) and humidity. Alongside this, allergies like hayfever may flare up in some, leaving the skin a little more irritated and sensitive. So it’s important to pay attention to how your skin’s feeling and show it a little extra love where needed. Our skin tends to hold more moisture during warmer weather, so now may be the time to switch to lighter skin care formulations to let the skin breathe, while others may prefer to stick with their richer products – check in with your skin before you decide to switch it up. Any tightness might suggest it still requires the richer formulations.

If you have naturally oily or combination skin, then switching to a purifying cleanser may help to keep oil at bay, preventing clogged pores and skin breakouts. SKIN by Ecostore’s Purifying Cleanser is a combination of hydrating New Zealand marine extract, anti-oxidant rich grapeseed extract, blended with pineapple, providing a soothing and anti-inflammatory blend – perfect at calming the skin while still providing hydration.

And finally – out with the old and in with the new! After the dryness of winter, now might be time to slough it all off and give you face a fresh start! Consider a gentle scrub to rid any dull skin, leaving a smoother complexion behind.
